Political advertising
We do accept political advertising on our sites — and we think it is right to state plainly, in one place, on what terms. TRIMA NEWS publishes the whole Drbna network, so the same rules apply across all our titles.
What makes an advertisement political
The purpose decides, not the format. For us, political advertising is any paid message meant to influence an election or a referendum — whether it supports someone or argues against a rival. A banner, a video and a tailor-made article are treated alike.
The rules we work by
Regulation (EU) 2024/900 on the transparency and targeting of political advertising has applied since 10 October 2025. In the Czech Republic it is followed by Act No. 234/2025 Coll. on election campaigns, the general rules of Act No. 40/1995 Coll. on advertising, and the individual electoral acts. Together they define what has to be visible and what must not be done.
What has to be visible
A reader must be able to tell that a message is political advertising and to find out who paid for it — including the ultimate controlling person, if someone else stands behind the sponsor. The election or referendum concerned must be stated, along with a link to the transparency notice. We publish those through Politran.
For video, a label buried in the credits is not enough: it must be legible throughout, or for at least three seconds at the beginning and at the end.
What we will not run
We do not target political advertising using personal data — not by age, gender or interests, and not by retargeting. That is not merely our commercial preference; the Regulation requires it and we take it seriously.
We also refuse messages that discriminate or attack religious and national sentiment, contain false or misleading claims, or abusively attack political opponents and their beliefs. Criticising politics is legitimate; insulting people is not.
Pre-election moratorium
We do not publish the results of pre-election or election surveys during the three days before voting opens, nor at any time while voting is under way.
If something looks wrong
If you suspect that a particular advertisement on our sites breaks these rules, write to ttpa@drbna.cz. We will look into it and, where the complaint is justified, take the advertisement down.
