Privacy policy

This is an informative translation. The binding version of this document is the Czech one; in case of any discrepancy, the Czech wording prevails.

This document summarises the basic principles of personal data protection and processing. Further information can be found in the General Terms and Conditions of TRIMA NEWS s.r.o., in the section on personal data protection.

TRIMA NEWS s.r.o., registered office at L. B. Schneidera 3, 370 01 České Budějovice, Company ID 26081890 (“TRIMA NEWS”), owns, operates and commercially represents the websites listed at www.trimanews.cz (the “websites”). TRIMA NEWS processes the personal data of users of those websites for the purposes described below, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (the “Regulation”).

I. Processing of personal data

TRIMA NEWS processes only the personal data provided by individual data subjects, according to the purpose and the service. The scope of personal data of a registered reader: e-mail address and name; optionally a profile picture. Where a password is used, we store only its secure hash; where sign-in through Google, Facebook or Apple is used, we store the identifier under which those services keep the reader. We do not collect date of birth, gender, telephone number or address.

In accordance with Section 89 of Act No. 127/2005 Coll., on electronic communications, we inform you that the websites use cookies for their operation.

II. What cookies are and which types we use

A cookie is a short text file that a visited website sends to the browser. It allows the website to record information about the visit, such as the preferred language and other settings. Cookies take up almost no space and do not serve to obtain sensitive personal data or to identify a user as a specific person.

Types of cookies

Session cookies are stored only until the browser session ends; persistent cookies remain stored for longer. Persistent cookies help identify the user’s computer on a return visit, but do not allow the user to be identified personally; TRIMA NEWS stores the relevant data in an anonymised form.

What we use cookies for

• Security — authenticating users, preventing fraudulent use of sign-in credentials and protecting data against unauthorised access.
• Traffic measurement — the websites take part in NetMonitor, the Czech internet audience survey; participation beyond ordinary measurement cookies is subject to the user’s consent.
• Advertising — selecting relevant advertisements (remarketing), campaign performance reports and frequency capping. Remarketing data is used solely to segment visitors.

Some cookies are created by the advertising systems themselves. Those have their own privacy policies, and their current list can be found in the privacy settings on our websites (see the section Advertising and traffic measurement below). Tracking pixels and local storage

A tracking pixel is a small graphic image placed on a page which, like a cookie, can be used to collect certain information (IP address, time of browsing, browser type). The websites may use it to monitor the effectiveness of pages and as a complement to cookies for the purpose of segmenting users.

Managing cookies in browsers

Standard web browsers support cookie management — individual cookies can be deleted, blocked or disabled entirely, or allowed only for selected sites. Detailed information can be found in your browser’s help.

III. Purposes of personal data processing

• displaying advertising based on users’ interests,
• carrying out analyses and measurements to determine interest in the services provided,
• direct marketing to a reasonable extent, i.e. targeted display of content and advertising,
• informing about events, publications or services that we provide.

Services we use to run the websites

Since 2026 the Drbna network runs on our own editorial system. In order for the services we offer to work, we pass certain data to the following processors:

• Anthropic PBC (United States) — automated moderation of the discussion. The text of the comment and the author’s name are sent; the result of the assessment is stored with the comment. The purpose is to keep the discussion readable and to protect readers from abusive and hateful contributions.

  The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The law does not require us to screen content in advance — under Section 5 of Act No. 480/2004 Coll. we are liable for user-uploaded content only once we learn that it is unlawful and fail to remove it, and Article 8 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (the Digital Services Act) expressly rules out any general monitoring obligation. We therefore moderate voluntarily: it protects readers, and it protects us from content for which we would otherwise be liable. You may object to this processing — your contribution will then be assessed by a human.

  The transfer outside the European Union is covered by standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

• Amazon Web Services (Sweden region, i.e. within the EU) — delivery of the newsletter and transactional e-mails. It processes the e-mail address, name and the content of the message. We receive back information about non-delivery or about a message being marked as unsolicited, so that we can remove such addresses from the mailing.
• GoPay s.r.o. — payments for the ad-free subscription. Payment card details remain with the gateway and we do not store them; we keep only the amount, the variable symbol, the payment identifier and the validity of the subscription.
• Meta Platforms Ireland Limited — for posts we publish on Facebook we load the comments into our system for moderation. The text and the author’s name are taken as published on Facebook; these comments are not displayed on the websites.
• Google Ireland Limited — traffic measurement (Google Analytics) and protection of the registration form against bots (reCAPTCHA).
• Cloudflare — storage for the photo archive (the R2 service, European Union jurisdiction).

Reader account, comments and forms

For an account we keep the e-mail address, name, optionally a profile picture and a secure hash of the password — we do not know the password itself. When signing in through Google, Facebook or Apple we store the identifier under which those services keep you.

For comments we store the text, the author’s name and the link to the account. For votes on comments we store a technical device fingerprint so that it is not possible to vote repeatedly; it cannot be used to determine anyone’s identity.

For forms we process the data you fill in and the sender’s IP address, solely in order to deal with the matter you wrote about.

When you delete your account

We remove the account from the database. Comments remain published but are detached from you and signed “Deleted user” — the discussion stays comprehensible, but it will not be possible to tell who wrote the contribution. At the same time we keep an irreversible hash of your e-mail address so that we do not restore the account by mistake when transferring data from the old system; we do not keep the address itself.

Advertising and traffic measurement

The operation of the websites is financed by advertising. Third-party technologies take part in displaying and measuring it — at the time of the last update these are mainly Google Ad Manager, FairAds, Protag, Caroda, Microsoft Clarity, Google Tag Manager and Meta.

The complete and always current list of vendors can be found directly in the privacy settings on our websites, where you can also change what you consent to at any time. Consent management is provided by the Didomi platform operated by the Czech Publisher Exchange association; the list currently includes 43 named partners and changes according to whom we work with. There is therefore no point in copying it here — the valid one is always in the privacy settings.

Without your consent, advertising and measurement technologies that require consent will not run.

IV. List of processors

TRIMA NEWS passes personal data only to vetted partners bound by a duty of confidentiality. These are the following categories of processors:

• providers of technologies for programmatic advertising,
• processors of website traffic analyses,
• operators of advertising systems in connection with targeted behavioural advertising,
• operators of technical solutions for displaying relevant content and advertising.

Under precisely defined conditions, TRIMA NEWS is obliged to pass certain personal data to public authorities on the basis of legal regulations.

V. Period of personal data processing

The following periods apply to the services of the new editorial system:

• reader account, comments and newsletter subscription — for as long as the account or the subscription lasts; you can cancel them at any time,
• form submissions — no longer than 30 days after the form closes, including any attachments,
• comments loaded from Facebook — 7 days,
• payment data — for the period required by tax legislation,
• database backups — daily for a month, weekly for six months, monthly for one year. Deleted data may therefore still be present in backups for that period; they serve solely to restore operations after a failure and we do not otherwise work with them.

The following periods apply to advertising and traffic measurement:

• improving the quality of the services provided and developing new ones — max. 2 years,
• displaying advertising based on a visitor’s interests — max. 6 months,
• carrying out analyses and measurements — max. 6 months.

VI. Processing without the user’s consent

TRIMA NEWS may process personal data even without consent where this is necessary to provide the service, to comply with legal obligations, or for the purposes of the controller’s legitimate interests (e.g. direct marketing and securing the websites).

VII. The basis on which personal data is processed

We process personal data on the basis of consent given, legitimate interest, performance of a contract, or compliance with legal obligations. The specific purposes are set out above.

VIII. Security of personal data

All personal data provided is secured using standard procedures and technologies. TRIMA NEWS regularly checks whether the system contains weak points and whether it has been exposed to attack. Access to data is protected by a password and sensitive data is encrypted in transit.

IX. Rights of the data subject

• the right of access to personal data,
• the right to rectification of inaccurate and untrue personal data,
• the right to request an explanation,
• the right to lodge a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.cz),
• the right to erasure,
• the right to restriction of processing,
• the right to data portability,
• the right to object to processing.
